What is a “radical bookseller?”

 

In the simplest terms, radical booksellers/bookstores are ones whose operation is unconventional, with a mission of inspiring & engaging in social change.

 

Radical booksellers also differ from traditional bookstores by stocking books with a leftist slant, books written by authors belonging to systemically oppressed groups including people of color, queer folk, disabled people, anarchists, etc.

 

Red Current Distro is focused on bringing leftist titles to our community that are not commonly found at Alaskan bookstores. We carefully curate the titles we offer to encourage creative thinking & collective imagining for a better future.

 

Radical booksellers do more than sell books. Red Current Distro maintains relationships with community organizers working to create change & provides information & direction to community members looking to get involved in the work being done.

 

While Red Current Distro is a pop-up booth right now, we are hard at work building toward a brick & mortar bookstore. Your support will help make that a reality!
